Human is our animal species common name. Our scientific name is Homo Sapiens, which is Latin for Wise men (Latin grammar reverses these two words). We are one of the five Great Apes species still in existence: Chimpanzee, Bonobo (our close genetic relatives of the Pan family), Humans, Gorilla, and Orangutang.

Where do we come from? AFRICA. All humans evolved originally in Africa.

We initially evolved from somewhere within the rainforests of Central Africa as part of the Pan family of apes, before we became fully human. We became Anatomically Modern Humans some 350,000 years ago on the open savanna of East Africa, when African rainforests shrank as a result of centuries-long drought in Africa, when much of the world’s water got tied up in the glacial Ice Ages of the Northern Hemisphere.
